Maryam Javed has a profound background in gender justice, human rights, civic education alongside her work in development and program management. Since 2019, she has served as the head of the Women’s Study Department at the Islamic Research Institute of Social Sciences (IRISS). During her tenure, she has successfully designed and implemented empowering and community-participating programs which have advanced leadership at various levels with youth, women, gender minorities, and displaced people. She has successfully worked on projects with well-known groups like the Afghan Pakistan Women Association (APWA), Pakistan Legal United Society (PLUS), Pak Institute for Peace Studies (PIPS), Media Foundation 360, UN Women Pakistan, Network of Disaster Management Practitioners and Rotary Parwaz Club.
She brings hand-on expertise in research design, program development, stakeholder coordination, participatory training, and non-violent conflict resolution as a consultant. Her work ethic is based on participatory governance, knowledge sharing, and inclusive development.
